Regret

So I’m moving all of my stuff out of my old place and I found my high school yearbook from senior year. I decide to read through all the notes people wrote in it since I haven’t seen it since then. As I read it I can’t help but feel a mix of happiness and regret because it’s filled with all these messages of friendship and how great of a person they thought I was and promises that we never kept to hang out sometime with phone numbers to keep in touch. I can’t help but feel like a fool for not realizing all the connections I made in high school that I never kept up with because I remember all I felt back then was that I had no “real” friends and looking through this I realize that I had plenty of friends just no real confidence in myself. Now that I’ve grown up I just want to reach out and almost apologize for being a shitty friend and make sure the friends I have now don’t become distant as I move on from college to what comes next. This all reminds me of something I saw on tv or Facebook which was ” I wish there was a way to know we are in the good old days before they’re gone.”

Graduation

I’ll be completing the final semester of my undergrad in a little more than a week from now. It’s probably one of the most defining moments in my life as an adult because once I leave here it will be to find my own lot in life and make my ambitions come true. I’ve always felt this kind of turmoil growing up with finding who I am and being insecure about myself and as this chapter of my life comes to a close, I feel as if I’ve come so far from who I was in high school and even a freshmen in college. I find more comfort and confidence in myself everyday and that confidence makes me feel prepared to take on the responsibilities waiting out there in the world. As I stand on this precipice I can’t help looking back and seeing all the faults and stumbles I’ve had here trying to become what I want to be and still somehow feel I chose the right path. There is still more that I want in my life but I no longer feel anxious about when it will happen but rather patience in that when it comes I’ll be ready. Even though school is ending there is still so much more to learn out there and I can’t wait to take it head on.

has raised it’s tuition to $29,000 for this academic year. It wouldn’t bug me so much if they hadn’t have of added a stupid golf course to “attract” new students. Here’s a news flash, nobody goes to school because they have a golf course to play on! They go because it’s either cheap or they here good things about it, and raising the tuition to almost $30,000 does not make me want to spread the news about how awesome it is to go to JU. Also, almost none of the money they do get, goes towards my department or even the housing for JU beacause both Phillips Fine Arts building and all the dorms other than Oak hall are like time machines to the 70’s. I keep getting the feeling that ten years from now I’m going to come back and either the campus is going to look completely up-to-date because they finally figured out how to manage their money or it won’t exsist anymore because they kept upping the bill until nobody could afford to go there. I don’t mean to rant, but I’ve always had plenty of aid to go to school just as long as I didn’t live on campus and now I have to figure out how to pay the rest of this tuition, taking 18 credit hours, and I was planning on saving up to buy a guitar to audition for masters programs. I just didn’t need this extra bullshit….
